BIBLE: Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth

Your Word is a lamp. The Word that lights the path

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. — Psalm 119:105

On the narrow road, the world offers many lanterns — opinions, feelings, trends, self-help. Yet only one light never flickers or fails: the Word of God. It reveals the path when shadows gather, corrects when we stray, and comforts when the way grows steep. If you're "saved" but leading a self-centered life then you're not on the narrow path. We don't become Christians just to get into heaven. God is going to create a new heaven and a new earth! Our eternal life begins the moment we accept Christ and are baptized with the Holy Spirit. We're to follow Christ and become like Him, obedient to God our Father.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. — 2 Timothy 3:16-17

This is not mere reading — it is listening to the voice of Adonai Himself. Through His Word, He speaks direction, conviction, hope, and life. We walk the narrow road not by sight alone, but by faith in Christ and His finished work on the cross.

The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. — Psalm 119:130

If you find yourself at a crossroads, uncertain, weary, or tempted by the broad way — thank God that He is convicting you and consider it joy that He is working in your life! Find and enter a secret place where you can be alone with God and Open the Word. Read outloud and remember to pause and think about what you just read. In many psalms, you will find the word "selah" which means, stop and meditate on what was just spoken. Apply this to your reading and listen for God's voice. Also, we are to test every spirit. 1 John 4:1-3 is the primary scripture commanding believers to "test the spirits" to see if they are from God, as many false prophets have entered the world. Key tests include confessing that Jesus Christ came in the flesh (1 John 4:2), producing good fruit (Matthew 7:15-23), and adhering to sound doctrine.
